Assessment of RAD and attachment disorders in children

(particularly in foster care and adoption)

Attachment disorders, including RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder), are among the most difficult and least understood developmental difficulties.
They are often confused with ADHD, oppositional behaviour or a child’s “difficult character”.

We look deeper.

Kiedy warto rozważyć diagnozę attachment disorders?

If the child:

• has difficulty forming relationships,

• does not respond appropriately to closeness from adults,

• manipulates, controls or provokes,

• has extreme emotional reactions,

• does not trust adults despite safe conditions,

an assessment of attachment disorders may be crucial.

How do we approach assessment?

The assessment process includes:

• a detailed developmental and family history,

• an analysis of trauma and relationship history,

• observation of the child’s functioning,

• consultations with carers,

• a written report with therapeutic recommendations.

For foster and adoptive families, we offer the possibility of funding support or an assessment provided as part of the foundation’s work.

• analiza historii trauma i relacji,

• obserwacja funkcjonowania dziecka,

• consultations with carers,

• pisemna opinia z rekomendacjami terapeutycznymi.
