Diagnoza FAS i FASD

(Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders)

FAS and FASD are conditions that often remain undiagnosed for years, and their symptoms are often misinterpreted as ADHD, behavioural problems or a lack of motivation.

An appropriate assessment can:

• bring relief to the child and carers,

• put earlier difficulties into perspective,

• make it possible to choose realistic, tailored support strategies.

What does FAS/FASD assessment involve?

The assessment process includes:

• analysis of records and developmental history,

• an interview with carers,

• assessment of cognitive and emotional functioning,

• cooperation between specialists,

• a written diagnostic report with recommendations.

We work with particular sensitivity to the circumstances of children in foster care and adoption, where access to a complete prenatal history may be limited.
